Default Potomac fish - or lack thereof

Had a couple of days off last week & hit the Potomac. Fished both Mattawoman and Aquia , front to back, shallow & deep. Tried different baits, but threw mainly buddies & grubs. Water temps were brutally cold (had to break ice to launch at Aquia). Saw H2O temps between 34-40 degrees - main river was ~ 36 with temps slightly higher back in the creeks. There's still milfoil on the flats & most of it is still green! Anyway, didn't catch squat either day - just wasn't happening in the frigid water. Guessing colder than normal temps has the fish lockjawed or pushed into the main river. Can't wait til March LOL...

Thanks for posting Rudedog. Roughly the second of week of March is normally when things really get going out there as long as the river doesn't get too muddy from heavy rains. There will be a lot of ice forming now that the lows will be around 10-15 degrees most nights this week. Not happy about that.

I can usually scratch out winter Potomac fish, but this year has been tough. It's been a dern cold winter & we haven't had a warm spell. Looks like the weather isn't going to improve anytime soon - probably going to be a while before I hit the river again LOL.

Yep - Mid March always seems to be the magical P'mac turn on time - can't wait!

Hey Brian! Naw, not UA, I just can't access this site from work anymore - they blocked all forums. Sucks because I don't surf the web much at home, so I'm not as active here as I used to be. I still check in & post though.

It's been a while LOL! Where ya at now? How's the family? What ya doing for work?
