    Default Word of caution!!!

Was talking with a Mercury mechanic a bit ago about various topics. This time of year (and anytime really), if your boat is frozen to the bunks or you just want to get your boat off the trailer with some power.......be cautious doing this. The amount of water forced up and toward the engine could result in water going into the #6 cylinder and that spells real trouble. Better to float your boat off.

So how does it get in? Exhaust port I imagine but with the engine trimed up a little with the jack plate trimed high that would be hard. Just curious.

This also happens when you come off of pad too quickly. I learned (the hard way) that water does indeed come up thru the exhaust port and enters the #6 cylinder. That's what failed on my old Merc in '08, according to Chip at Harbin Marine.
