    Default .22 for a 13 Year Old

I'd like to get my son a .22 for his 13th birthday, and I've narrowed it down (for now) to two choices. I'm trying to decide between a Ruger American, and a 10/22. I have a 10/22 that I really like, but a teenager will probably use a lot less ammo, and learn better shot selection with a bolt action. What are your thoughts? I'm a fan of Ruger, five of the last six guns I've purchased have been Ruger, but are there other choices in the $250-$300 range I should add to the mix? I'm not looking for a youth model.

Ruger 10/22 Carbine . I think once he starts shooting, he is gonna go through a box of shells in no time 10 shot semi automatic is addictive

That's why I'm thinking a bolt action might be better...lol. I have a 25 rd magazine for my 10/22, ammo goes fast.

I recently bought a savage mdl 93 .22mag. It's very accurate and a pleasure to shoot.

Get him the bolt action. It will make him slow down and improve his shooting skills.
