Oregon Inlet Fishing Report May 13th, 2014
Today was a good day for both the offshore and inshore fleets, with fairly good weather and seas averaging 2-3 feet. *The Oregon Inlet fishing report from the inshore captains*has been very good for quite a while with plenty of bluefish providing for some fun with some spanish mackerel mixed in. *This has also been a pretty good stretch for false albacore. The offshore charters have still been able to locate good gaffer dolphin, though the numbers have been a little scattered. The Oregon Inlet fishing report from the offshore captains has been much of the same. *The charter boat Legacy out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center reports a beautiful day offshore fishing. *The crew was able to locate and effectively fish several different grass lines finding over 30 gaffer dolphin.
Also fishing out of Oregon Inlet is the charter Point Runner, reporting a good catch of gaffer dolphin. *The crew switched up to try and locate some yellowfin tuna, but only managed to catch one nice yellowfin today.
The charter and crew of High Return and Trophy Hunter, out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, were able to locate some pretty nice dolphin. *Other offshore charters reported good but, spotty at times, catches of gaffer dolphin. *Many are still seeing some yellowfin tuna but still waiting for the northerly migration to continue. *Good catches of blackfin tuna and some wahoo are still being reported. *One of the most anticipated species on everyone’s list is cobia. *A few are being landed but it is very inconsistent and is still a few weeks off. *The weather will continue over the next 24-36 hours and fishing should remain consistent for both the inshore and offshore fleets.
