    Default Smith Mountain 2/8

Headed down to Smith yesterday. Put in about 730 at Oak Grove. Water temps are surprisingly high for this time of year. Saw 44-47 and starting at about Hales Ford the water is stained. Had hoped to get up in the stain and catch some fish on a crankbait, but they weren't having that. Went back down in the clear water and managed to scratch out only 4, but 3 of them were over 4lbs. Had a 5lm and a sm over 4. Two on a dropshot and two on a float n fly. Bout 2 the wind picked up and I didn't want to fight it, so I headed out. Have a tourney down there Sat, hope the string of 4lb ers will revisit me on Sat.

Sorry no pics. My tourney partner, which is about as much of a technotard as I am took pics on his new phone, which somehow managed to not actually take the photos. The SM in particular would have made a nice pic. It was a football.

Nice work, Charlie. Would not have wanted to be on SML in those winds. My FnF stuff came - I have mine rigged.

The day I was there wasn't bad. Thursday was the day the wind was so bad. I wouldn't have gone near it on Thurs. Good way to end up as catfish poop.

31-I'm headed out Sunday for a 10 day job, but when I get back I'm going to full on fishing mode. Keep me in mind and we'll go to Claytor or Smith and dawdle the floats one day. You should retire. Jobs are for suckers. The pay sucks, but the vacation package rocks.

Amen, Charlie. Holler at me when you get back.
