    Default Smith Mountain 2/11

Freaking crazy day all the way around. Got up @ 4am in Floyd. 54 degrees and wind howling. Got down off the mountain into Ferrum, 35 and calm. Straight line distance probably 15 miles. Got over to SML, 36 and calm. Craziness.

Water temp 44. I stayed down in the clear water below Hales Ford. We scratched out 3 in the morning. One on a float n fly and two on a dropshot. All cookie cutter two pounders. Was getting a little frustrated. At about 2 I got a nice LM on the float and about 3 I got a good smallie. Weight in @ 330. So we roll into the weight in. LM was 5.20. SM was 3.87. Bag was 16.1. Feeling pretty good, then the real fishermen rolled in. 23 won, 21 second and 18 third. Had 22 boats.

Our SM held up, we got he big smallie pot. Somebody brought in a LM over 6. It would have been funny if we got big SM and big LM and didn't win the tourney.

Anyway, we caught fish, weather got warm. Win.

Nice fish Charlie. Hell I'd be happy just catching that LM....but I've never been very good fishing on a lake.

Stick to the river. More fish, less hassle. Lake tournament fishing is like crack, you're better off just leaving it alone.
