    Default Potomac 9/9

Hit the Potomac in a friend's boat on Saturday. Got on the water around 8am so we didn't get on the morning bite. We fished from Piscataway to Chickamuxen and it was a really tough day. We got a few bass up to 3.8lbs, one snakehead 4-5lbs, and one striper about 23". Threw the whole box at them but caught all our fish on frogs and chatterbaits. Had a few monstrous blowups on frogs back in the grass, but they wouldn't eat it. Guessing those were big snakeheads.

Thanks for posting Bryan. I fished with a friend for five hours and we caught 10 bass up to 2.10 lbs. All caught in Mattowoman on light weight worms or wacky rigs. With all the grass in the river, September is usually tough.

We fished Mattawoman too. Tried to fish grass first but the tide was out so it was just too shallow and thick. It looked really good back in the pads but we only got one fish there and then left cause there were so many other boats.

Man there is a ton of bait in the river right now. Schools of minnows and shad everywhere. Big fat crabs too, wish I brought a net!

Agree Bryan, I saw a ton of 1-2 inch fry in the grass. They were cruising just underneath the surface. Sometimes the fish don't need to eat our baits, plenty of natural stuff already there.
