    Default Blown Motor update

    Blown Motor update.

Being on a fixed income complicates getting my boat repaired as quickly as I’d like. That being said, even if I started today, it’d be a two or three month turn around on a rebuild. A repower would be a faster route, but two and a half times more expensive. So I’m cautiously optimistic in 3 to 4 months at best, maybe 6 or 7 months worse case scenario on getting everything right again.
The lord always has a way of working out these kinds of situations for me, so we’ll see how it all pans out. In the meantime, I see a lot of naps in my future, haha.

It is written, “All things work to the good of them that love the lord, and who are called according to his purpose”.
“All things” includes a blown motor! So it’s all good!

See ya on the water my friends. God love you and bless you.

Do you know what caused the blow up?

Most likely, pre-ignition caused by carbon hot spot, or bad injector. There are other possible causes, but those two are the most likely

Big E said my motor sounded like it had a rattling metal sound back during the iron man. I have a feeling its been running with a bad piston for some time. If thats the case, Yamaha builds a tough motor, lol.

Dang Jim - This sucks, but there are plenty of folks with back seats who are more than willing to host you and your wealth of knowledge.

    Hang tuff, buddy.

Jim - HPDI? I went thru that same deal several times, and it was always winter time... The ECU doesn't function properly when cold, if you get the digital gauge that shows motor temps, when 30* or below, it took my HPDI almost 1/2hr to warm up to the 120* minimum operating temperature that is mandatory for the ECU to operate properly. If the ECU isn't working right, I think it's #6... Top right if I recall, well it runs extremely lean and implodes...

Good luck buddy, there was a reason I had the F225 instead of the HPDI, my 225hpdi blew up 6x's.... yes 6x's, luckily all in warranty.

I'd call Yamaha and see if they can find you a new in crate F225 sport like I had.. Last I heard they still had ton's of them they never sold because they weren't "cool"... that's why they released the SHO. That F225 was a few MPH slower, but man it never burped once.
