    Default Philpott 2/14

In honor of Valentines Day, I went to the lake. LOL

Put in at Ryan's Branch, lake looked like chocolate milk with a good load of wood dumped in it and stirred vigorously. Mud line is down below Jamison Mill at about mile 6. The lying weather man said it was going to be 60, yeah, right. It was about 42 and raining. Rather uncomfortable. We ran down into the clear water and zeroed on a couple of points, then finally found some fish willing to eat. Water is very clear on lower end. Fish were relatively deep and related to the main lake points. We caught fish on several baits. A rig, jerkbait and dropshot all produced some fish. We Caught approx. 25, but not much in the size department. I'd say our best 5 would have gone 13ish lbs. Had 2sm, the rest LM and two nice 3lb walleyes that went into my iron skillet last night. It never got anywhere near 60, but the afternoon was OK temp wise. I'd say 50ish. Water temps are 41-44 depending on where you are.

The best part, never saw another boat. All day. I love Philpott in the winter during the week. It's like having your own personal lake.

Nice work, Charlie. I'm guessing the water level was back at full pool, yes?

Yeah, it's back up to full at the Pot and a bud told me last night that Smith was back up to within a couple of feet of full pool.

Guess it's filling up quickly, his info was a day or two old. I'm over this whole winter thing and ready to get after some fish.
