    Default Winter run off

With all the dams on the James, do you get much run off in the spring or is the level controlled?

TVA, CoE, and AEP manage the late winter/early spring flow to minimize the potential for flooding while keeping impoundments at optimum levels for spawning.

i've seen photos of the Nottoway blown out in the spring. I don't think it has dams though. I have a book about floating the James and I was thinking about doing it in late spring/early summer but was concerned about high water. Thank you 31st. OOO Rah!

I've had one guided fishing trip postponed on the upper Jackson this month. It looks like my second try might get pushed back too. The mountains are getting way too much rain this spring. I hope the rains will quit long enough to do some fishing.

Yep, we're +4-6" (depending where you live) so far this spring. Looks like it's gonna be wet for a while. We'll be screaming for it in a couple months when it gets hot.

TVA manages the James River? ok, how many snorts before this post???? AFAIK, there are no flood control dams on the James River.....so as they say, it is what it is when it rains....
