Default First kayak trip back to the marshes in 2019

So I decided to load up and head back down to NC and fish the marshes. Last year I opted to fish some marshes that were right in the middle of everything. To my surprise they held a healthy number of trout, flounder and redfish. This year I decided to explore them a bit further and try and learn a bit more about their habits with the tides.

My first trip this year was 4 days, mainly fishing the mornings and an outgoing tide. The surface temps were around 73 degrees. Same time last year I was usually able to get a few reds on topwater early in the morning - but this trip only led to some bluefish on topwater. Everything else was either 1/4 ounce bucktails with gulp or Zman soft plastics on jig heads.

I managed quite a few small trout, under slot redfish and a nice keeper flounder - lost a second one at the kayak. Heading back down in about 8 days to spend another 4 chasing fish. I really want to nail a few slot reds and some more flounder.
