I have an Eagle 640c that I really like. BPS has it for 519.99.

I would go with the lowrance 520c. or if u can get the new HD6 by lowrance go for it. They cost a little more then ur budget but are well worth it.

I like the lowrance units and get as big a screen as you can afford.

Nothing but Humminbird. Used Lowrance for many many years and wished I would have changed years ago.

the guys on this board know whats up!!! Lowrance! i was a hummingbird man for over 10 years and would not buy one anymore...except for the SI models for saltwater looking for wrecks in the bay and off shore. Eagle and lowrance are the same manufacturer but eagle is the cheaper version missing some of the options and latest technology.

Default Check here before you buy

When you decide what to get - call these guys - you wont find it cheaper and they will answer any questions. They may be able to help you decide what to buy for the way you fish and where you fish.

I was told the 520 series is no longer in production - so if you find one it will be old stock - not a bad thing. Only thing lowrance is putting out now is hd. I did not here that from lowrance but from bass pro.

Good luck picking one - I went with 510c - same as 520 w/out gps. I love it - way better than what i had.

I'm real pleased with my 520's - agree on the screen - get as big as the budget allows - also invest in a navionics chip - usually can find previous year (2008) for $50 bucks less
