Big Buck Down

Got a good buck this evening behind the house. It's the big 8pt I have pics of. Only got pics of him one night all summer so I was surprised when I found out it was him. It happened really quick. When I first saw him he was only 30 yards away and coming. He stopped to hit a scrape on the path and that gave me time to get stood up and ready. When he started back along the trail I tried to draw and my elbow was hanging up in my safety strap. I couldn't get drawn and the deer was only 10 yards away. Finally I drew the bow real low (that took every ounce of strength I had!!!) and got settled. He had stopped, thank goodness, and I put the pin on his shoulder and squeezed. WHACK!!! Knocked him to the ground. He got up and ran about 40 yards and piled up within site of the stand. Arrow hit the off shoulder and stayed in him but I knew it was a perfect hit.

He doesn't score a lot because of the weak brows and G-3's but everything else is nice. He's a good 3 1/2 year old and I'm very proud to take him. My first ever opening day bow kill and a nice buck to boot. I will post pics later when I get them up. Going to take more pics in the morning.
